## Certified translator in the United States

- A certified translator translates your document and signs a statement that the translation is complete and accurate. That signed statement is what USCIS, courts, universities and the DMV ask for.
- At Roxo Translations you upload your document on our website, see the price and deadline instantly, and receive the translation from a certified translator as a PDF, with the signed certificate of accuracy and US notarization.

- Member of the American Translators Association (ATA)
- Accepted by USCIS, with unlimited revisions until acceptance
- 100% online, with notarization included

## What is a certified translator?

- In the United States there is no government license for translators. A translation becomes "certified" when the translator, or the translation company, attaches a signed statement that it is complete and accurate and that the translator is fluent in both languages.
- The best-known credential is ATA certification, granted by the American Translators Association after an exam for each language pair. It shows the translator's level, but USCIS does not require it: what the agency asks for is the full translation with the signed certification.

What a certified translator does

- Translates the whole document, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes
- Signs the certificate of accuracy with name, date and language pair
- Keeps the layout of the original, so the agency can compare page by page
- Marks illegible parts as illegible instead of guessing

Want to become a certified translator? The path usually starts with ATA membership and its exam. To work with Roxo, see the open positions in our Help Center.

## Certified translator for USCIS

USCIS asks that every foreign-language document come with a full English translation and a certification from the translator stating that they are competent to translate and that the translation is accurate (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)).

- A full translation, not a summary
- A certification signed by the translator, with name and date
- An English translation for each document you file
- Notarization: USCIS does not require it, but it comes with every Roxo certified translation

Which pages and documents your case needs is set by the USCIS instructions and your attorney. See our USCIS certified translation.

## How to choose a certified translator

You don't need a translator in your city: a certified translation done online has the same value and arrives as a PDF, ready to upload or print.

- Check that the translator works in your document's language pair (we translate 30+ languages and 270+ pairs)
- Ask for the price per page before you send the document
- Look at the deadline options: standard, fast and express
- Ask whether notarization is included (with us, it always is)
- Choose a provider with unlimited revisions until acceptance

At Roxo Translations a certified translator is matched to your document's language: you upload it, see the price and deadline instantly, and receive the certified translation by email.

## See what a certified translator signs

Every Roxo certified translation comes with the certificate of accuracy, the page the agency checks first. It includes:

- the name and signature of the translator
- a statement that the translator is fluent in both languages
- a statement that the translation is complete and accurate
- the date and the identification of the translated document
- the notary public seal
