How we translate a transcript from Spanish
A transcript is translated course by course: the school, the student, the program, each term or year, every course with its grade and credits or hours, the averages and the date of issue. Course names are translated so that the reader understands the subject, and the original name can be kept next to it when you ask.
Grades stay exactly as issued. Mexico grades from 0 to 10, Colombia from 0 to 5, Chile from 1 to 7 and Peru and Venezuela from 0 to 20, and the translation keeps the scale the school uses instead of converting it. Turning the grades into a GPA is a credential evaluation, a separate service done by an evaluation agency, which works from the translation.
- Notes such as aprobado, reprobado, equivalencia or revalidación are translated, never left unexplained
- Anything that cannot be read is marked as illegible, never guessed
Where a translated transcript is used
University and college admissions, credential evaluations, professional licenses, scholarships, school enrollment for children and job applications often ask for the transcript in English. In your order, tell us where you will submit it, and we deliver the translation in the format that destination asks for. Which documents and which format are required is decided by the institution that receives them.
Upload a clear photo or scan of every page, including the back, see the price and the deadline right away and pay online. You receive the translation by email as a PDF, and a printed copy by mail if you ask for one. For transcripts in any other language, see our transcript translation page, and for the degree itself, the diploma translation.

Turnaround, price, accepted documents and how to order: the most common questions are already answered in the Help Center, organized by topic.
Do you convert the grades on my Spanish transcript to a GPA?
No. The translation keeps the grades and the grading scale exactly as the school issued them, such as 0 to 10 in Mexico or 1 to 7 in Chile. Converting them to a GPA is a credential evaluation, a separate service done by an evaluation agency, which works from the translation.
Do you translate Spanish from Spain and from Latin America?
Yes. We translate documents from Spain, Mexico and every Spanish-speaking country, to and from English, Portuguese and other languages, and we follow the variant of the country where the translation will be used. Tell us the destination when you order.
A name is spelled differently from my passport. Can you change it?
The translation reproduces names exactly as they appear in the original document. If you need another spelling, such as the one in your passport, tell us when you place your order, before we start. If we made a typo, we fix it at no cost.
Do you translate stamps, seals and parts that are hard to read?
Yes. Stamps and seals are translated too. A part that cannot be read is marked as illegible: we do not make up text for what is not legible.
What counts as a page? Is front and back one page?
A document printed front and back, such as an ID card or driver's license, is counted as one page. For longer documents, the quote shows the page count before you pay, and you can ask us to review it.
