Roxo Translations offers Italian translation services for documents from Italy, Switzerland and San Marino, and for Italian citizenship applications, to and from English, Portuguese, Spanish and other languages. Every translation is done by a human translator, native in the target language, and reviewed by a second one.
Send a photo or scan of the document, see the price and the deadline instantly, and receive the translation as a PDF. For the United States it comes certified and accepted by USCIS; for Brazil it can be a sworn translation into Portuguese, valid nationwide; for Italian citizenship, we translate the family records into Italian, with the Hague apostille when it applies.
Italian is the official language of Italy, San Marino and Vatican City, one of the national languages of Switzerland, spoken in Ticino and in part of Graubünden, and it has official status in parts of Slovenia and Croatia. It has more than 60 million native speakers and is an official language of the European Union. Emigration in the 19th and 20th centuries took Italian to the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Canada and Australia, where millions of descendants still need Italian records. The destination decides the type of translation.

Italian is one language, but the Italian of Italy and of Switzerland differ in some words, and documents from Italy follow their own formats. A good translation follows the variant of the country where the document will be used and keeps every detail of the record.
Italian grew out of the Latin spoken on the Italian peninsula, through the many local vernaculars that took its place after the fall of the Roman Empire. One of the oldest texts in an Italian vernacular is the Placito Capuano, from 960, a court record about the lands of the abbey of Monte Cassino.
In the 14th century, Dante Alighieri wrote the Divine Comedy in the vernacular of Florence, and Petrarch and Boccaccio followed him, so Tuscan became the model of written Italian. The Accademia della Crusca, founded in Florence in 1583, published its dictionary in 1612. When Italy was unified in 1861, Italian became the national language, even though most people still spoke local dialects at home.
Between the late 19th and the mid 20th century, millions of Italians emigrated, above all to the United States, Brazil and Argentina. Today Italian has more than 60 million native speakers, and the records of those families are still translated for citizenship, inheritance and genealogy.
