It is also an official language of Macau. A Portuguese document can be needed almost anywhere, and the destination decides the type of translation.

Brazilian and European Portuguese are the same language and, since the 1990 Spelling Agreement, have almost the same spelling, but they differ in vocabulary, in some points of grammar, in forms of address and in the way documents are written. A good translation follows the variant of the country where the document will be used.
Portuguese grew out of the Latin spoken in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. In the Middle Ages it formed a single language with Galician, Galician-Portuguese, the language of the troubadour songs. Portugal became a kingdom in 1143, and one of the oldest dated texts in Portuguese is the will of King Afonso II, from 1214.
Around 1290, King Dinis made Portuguese the language of royal documents and founded the first university in Portugal. From the 15th century on, the voyages of discovery took the language to Africa, Asia and South America, where Pedro Álvares Cabral arrived in 1500. In 1572, Luís de Camões published Os Lusíadas, the epic poem that became the symbol of the language.
Today Portuguese has more than 250 million speakers, most of them in Brazil, and it is the most spoken language in the Southern Hemisphere. The 1990 Spelling Agreement brought the spelling of the Portuguese-speaking countries closer together, and it came into use in Brazil in 2009.

Yes. Spanish and Portuguese are among our core languages, in both directions. We translate US documents such as birth certificates, diplomas and records into Spanish or Portuguese as a certified translation, or as a sworn translation when it will be used in Brazil.
Often yes, depending on the pair and the service. For certified translation we confirm translator availability. For sworn translation into Portuguese, some pairs require a two-step route through English. We tell you the option before quoting.
By people. Every document is translated by a professional linguist and goes through double human review for accuracy, grammar, formatting and consistency before delivery.
It depends on the language pair, because a sworn translation requires a public translator registered for that language. For pairs without one, we can offer a two-step route: certified translation into English, then sworn translation from English into Portuguese. We confirm before quoting.
Our core languages are Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian and French, and we work with many more, from Arabic and Chinese to German, Japanese and Russian. Tell us the language pair and we confirm availability before quoting.
