A certified translator in Ireland is a professional translator who signs a statement that the translation is accurate, with the date, their name and contact details. There is no official register: the Irish State does not appoint or approve translators, so what counts is the translator’s qualification and a statement that meets the rules.
No. Unlike Brazil or Spain, Ireland has no sworn translators appointed by the State and no official list of certified translators. Immigration Service Delivery does not approve or list translators or translation companies, so be wary of anyone who promises a ‘Department of Justice approved translator’.
The Association of Translators and Interpreters Ireland (ATII, formerly the ITIA) admits translators who pass its assessments and has its own certified legal translator credential. Membership is a sign of quality, but the immigration rules do not require it. Roxo is not a member of the ATII: our credential is membership of the American Translators Association (ATA).
That the translation is complete, that it carries the translator’s statement of accuracy, the date, the translator’s name, signature and contact details, and that it was not made by the applicant. The rules do not ask for a translator in Ireland, but for a visa applied for from outside Ireland a translation made outside the EEA and Switzerland also needs an apostille from the country where it was made.
Before you order, check that:
Each document goes to a translator native in the target language with experience of official documents, and then to a second translator, who checks names, dates and numbers against the original. Roxo signs the certified translation with the translator’s statement, and the statement is notarised by a notary public in Florida at no extra cost.

No. Irish immigration does not accept translations made by the applicant, and a translation made by a relative is not a good idea either: it has to come from a professional translator, who signs the statement of accuracy with their name and contact details.
Yes. We translate your documents into English and certify each translation with a signed statement of accuracy, the date and the translator’s name and contact details, which is what Irish immigration and the Irish embassies ask for. The translation can be done outside Ireland for applications made in Ireland. For a visa applied for from outside Ireland, a translation made outside the EEA also needs an apostille from the country where it was made.
