What Canada accepts as a certified translation

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) accepts a translation done by a translator who is a member in good standing of a professional translation association, in Canada or abroad. When the translator is not, the translation must come with an affidavit: the translator swears that the translation is accurate, before a notary public when the translation is done outside Canada.

Our certified translations for Canada follow that second path. Each one carries the certificate of accuracy and the translator's sworn statement, signed before a Florida notary public.

Provincial uses: check first

Some provincial bodies, such as provincial nominee programs, credential assessment services or driver licensing offices, may ask for a translator certified by a Canadian provincial association. Check the instructions of the office that will receive your document before ordering.

Do you do certified translations for Canada?

Yes. We translate your documents into English with a certificate of accuracy and the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, the format Canada accepts for translations done outside the country. The deadline is the same as our certified translation in the United States.

What does IRCC require for translated documents?

For each document that is not in English or French, IRCC asks for the translation, an affidavit from the translator and a certified copy of the original. The affidavit is not needed when the translator is a member in good standing of a professional translation association, in Canada or abroad. IRCC does not approve or list translation companies.

Does IRCC require a notarized translation?

IRCC asks for an affidavit from the translator, sworn before someone authorized to take oaths; outside Canada, that is a notary public. Our translations for Canada include the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, at no extra cost.

Which languages do you translate?

Our core languages are Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian and French, and we work with many more, from Arabic and Chinese to German, Japanese and Russian. Tell us the language pair and we confirm availability before quoting.

Is the translation done by people or by machine?

By people. Every document is translated by a professional linguist and goes through double human review for accuracy, grammar, formatting and consistency before delivery.
