Roxo Translations offers European Portuguese translation for documents from and for Portugal, to and from English and other languages. Every translation is done by a human translator, native in the target language, and reviewed by a second one.
Send a photo or scan of the document, see the price and the deadline instantly, and receive the translation as a PDF. For the United States it comes certified and accepted by USCIS; for Portugal, the receiving authority decides the format, and we confirm it before quoting.
European Portuguese is the standard of Portugal and, in general, the written reference in Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor. Brazil and Portugal are both parties to the Hague Apostille Convention. The destination decides the type of translation.

European and Brazilian Portuguese are the same language, but they differ in vocabulary, in forms of address, in the position of pronouns, in some verb constructions and, even after the 1990 Spelling Agreement, in a few spellings. A translation for Portugal follows the European standard from the first line to the last.
Portuguese grew out of the Latin spoken in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. In the Middle Ages it formed a single language with Galician, Galician-Portuguese. Portugal became a kingdom in 1143, and one of the oldest dated texts in Portuguese is the will of King Afonso II, from 1214.
Around 1290, King Dinis made Portuguese the language of royal documents and founded the first university in Portugal. In 1572, Luís de Camões published Os Lusíadas, the epic poem that shaped the literary language of Portugal, while the voyages of discovery took Portuguese to Africa and Asia.
After Brazil became independent in 1822, the two standards developed apart. Portugal reformed its spelling in 1911, and the two countries wrote differently for decades. The 1990 Spelling Agreement brought them closer, and Portugal completed the change in 2015, but European Portuguese keeps its own vocabulary and grammar.

Yes. Spanish and Portuguese are among our core languages, in both directions. We translate US documents such as birth certificates, diplomas and records into Spanish or Portuguese as a certified translation, or as a sworn translation when it will be used in Brazil.
Often yes, depending on the pair and the service. For certified translation we confirm translator availability. For sworn translation into Portuguese, some pairs require a two-step route through English. We tell you the option before quoting.
By people. Every document is translated by a professional linguist and goes through double human review for accuracy, grammar, formatting and consistency before delivery.
It depends on the language pair, because a sworn translation requires a public translator registered for that language. For pairs without one, we can offer a two-step route: certified translation into English, then sworn translation from English into Portuguese. We confirm before quoting.
Our core languages are Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian and French, and we work with many more, from Arabic and Chinese to German, Japanese and Russian. Tell us the language pair and we confirm availability before quoting.
