Translation services in Iqaluit for official use: we translate your documents into English or French, or into more than 30 other languages, with the translator’s affidavit sworn before a notary public, the format IRCC accepts for immigration and citizenship. Everything is done online, and the translation arrives by email.
Iqaluit is the capital of Nunavut. When a document is not in English or French, these are the offices that most often ask for a translation:
For IRCC, a translation by a translator who is not certified in Canada is accepted when it comes with the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a notary public outside Canada, and a certified copy of the original. That is our IRCC translation.
Nunavut is the one place in Canada, with Quebec, without a provincial nominee program, so most immigration paperwork follows IRCC’s rule: a translation by a certified translator or, if not possible, a translation with the translator’s affidavit, which is our format. We found no published translation rule from Motor Vehicles, Vital Statistics or the Nunavut Court of Justice, and the official languages of the territory are Inuktut (Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun), English and French.
Check with the territorial office that will receive your document before you order. Nunavut has no translators’ association of its own, and Roxo is not a member of any Canadian association.
Iqaluit had 7,310 people in the 2021 census language count, and 53% of them were Inuit. 35% have Inuktut as their mother tongue, 41% can hold a conversation in it, 98% in English and 15% in French, and almost 1 in 10 residents, 9.6%, have another mother tongue. The census tables we checked do not count Brazilians or Spanish speakers separately.
For a Canadian document going to Brazil, such as a birth or marriage certificate to be registered at a Brazilian registry office, the translation must be the Brazilian sworn translation (tradução juramentada), done by a sworn translator in Brazil. We provide that too.
Iqaluit means “place of many fish” in Inuktitut. Between 1955 and 1987 the settlement was called Frobisher Bay, so older documents may carry that name, before it officially went back to its Inuktitut name.
Iqaluit was chosen in December 1995 as the capital of the new territory of Nunavut, which was created on 1 April 1999, and it became a city in 2001.
We do not have an office in Iqaluit, and you do not need to go anywhere: you upload your documents, see the price and the delivery date in the instant quote, and receive the certified translation by email as a PDF. Find out who signs the translation, see the other translation services in Canada and the prices on our pricing page.

Yes. We translate your documents into English with a certificate of accuracy and the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, the format Canada accepts for translations done outside the country. The deadline is the same as our certified translation in the United States.
For each document that is not in English or French, IRCC asks for the translation, an affidavit from the translator and a certified copy of the original. The affidavit is not needed when the translator is a member in good standing of a professional translation association, in Canada or abroad. IRCC does not approve or list translation companies.
Yes. The rule accepts a translator who is a member of a professional association in Canada or abroad, or a translation with the translator’s affidavit sworn before a notary public outside Canada. That is the Roxo format: the affidavit is sworn before a Florida notary public.
IRCC asks for an affidavit from the translator, sworn before someone authorized to take oaths; outside Canada, that is a notary public. Our translations for Canada include the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, at no extra cost.
