Translation services in Vancouver for official use: we translate your documents into English or French, or into more than 30 other languages, with the translator’s affidavit sworn before a notary public, the format IRCC accepts for immigration and citizenship. Everything is done online, and the translation arrives by email.
Vancouver is the largest city in British Columbia. When a document is not in English or French, these are the offices that most often ask for a translation:
For IRCC, a translation by a translator who is not certified in Canada is accepted when it comes with the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a notary public outside Canada, and a certified copy of the original. That is our IRCC translation.
Two B.C. offices have rules of their own. ICBC, which exchanges foreign driver’s licences, decides by country whether a translation is needed: a licence from Brazil does not need one, while licences from Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Peru do, and the translation must come from an ICBC-approved translator or a consulate in B.C. For B.C. documents going abroad, the province’s authentication office accepts translations by a translator certified by STIBC or another CTTIC society, or by a B.C. notary, notarized together with the original.
Check with ICBC or the office that will receive your document before you order: ICBC works with translators it has approved, other B.C. offices may ask for a translator certified in B.C., and Roxo is not a member of STIBC.
Vancouver had 274,360 immigrants in the 2021 census, 42.2% of its population. Cantonese, Mandarin and Tagalog are the non-official languages most spoken at home, and Spanish comes fourth, with 8,600 people. 2,530 residents were born in Brazil and 3,785 report Brazilian origin. The Consulate General of Brazil is on Melville Street, and Mexico’s is on West Hastings Street.
For a Canadian document going to Brazil, such as a birth or marriage certificate to be registered at a Brazilian registry office, the translation must be the Brazilian sworn translation (tradução juramentada), done by a sworn translator in Brazil. We provide that too.
In Vancouver, Cantonese still leads Mandarin: 54,920 residents speak Cantonese most often at home, against 30,925 for Mandarin, and 77,435 have it as their mother tongue, the largest non-official mother tongue in the city.
Consular officers of more than 80 countries work in British Columbia, most of them in Vancouver, and ICBC accepts the translation of a foreign driver’s licence or driving record made by a consulate in the province.
We do not have an office in Vancouver, and you do not need to go anywhere: you upload your documents, see the price and the delivery date in the instant quote, and receive the certified translation by email as a PDF. Yes. We translate your documents into English with a certificate of accuracy and the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, the format Canada accepts for translations done outside the country. The deadline is the same as our certified translation in the United States.
For each document that is not in English or French, IRCC asks for the translation, an affidavit from the translator and a certified copy of the original. The affidavit is not needed when the translator is a member in good standing of a professional translation association, in Canada or abroad. IRCC does not approve or list translation companies.
Yes. The rule accepts a translator who is a member of a professional association in Canada or abroad, or a translation with the translator’s affidavit sworn before a notary public outside Canada. That is the Roxo format: the affidavit is sworn before a Florida notary public.
IRCC asks for an affidavit from the translator, sworn before someone authorized to take oaths; outside Canada, that is a notary public. Our translations for Canada include the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, at no extra cost.
