Translation services in Quebec City for official use: we translate your documents into English or French, or into more than 30 other languages, with the translator’s affidavit sworn before a notary public, the format IRCC accepts for immigration and citizenship. Everything is done online, and the translation arrives by email.
Quebec City is the capital of Quebec. When a document is not in English or French, these are the offices that most often ask for a translation:
For IRCC, a translation by a translator who is not certified in Canada is accepted when it comes with the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a notary public outside Canada, and a certified copy of the original. That is our IRCC translation.
In the capital, as in the rest of the province, Quebec offices ask for more than IRCC. The SAAQ accepts the translation of a foreign driver’s licence only when it is done or authenticated by an embassy, a consulate or a member of OTTIAQ, of the Association of Legal Court Interpreters and Translators or of an association of the CTTIC. For a marriage, the officiant asks for an official translation by an OTTIAQ member, with the translator’s sworn statement, of any document not in French or English. To insert a birth or marriage from abroad into the Quebec register, the Directeur de l’état civil asks for a French translation by an OTTIAQ member, even of a document in English. A document already in French needs no translation.
The MIFI, which issues the Quebec selection certificate (CSQ), accepts translations made in Canada only from members of OTTIAQ, ATIO, STIBC or CTINB or from the embassy or consulate of the issuing country, and translations made abroad from a translator who belongs to a professional order or is authorized to practise. Roxo is not a member of OTTIAQ or of any Canadian association, so our translation does not meet the SAAQ, marriage or civil status rules, and you should check with the MIFI before you order. For the federal IRCC steps, our affidavit is accepted.
Quebec City had 549,460 residents in the 2021 census and about 45,230 permanent immigrants. France is the leading country of birth, followed by Colombia; 1,115 immigrants were born in Brazil and 780 in Mexico. Spanish is the non-official language most spoken at home in the Québec metropolitan area. The nearest Consulate General of Brazil is in Montreal.
For a Canadian document going to Brazil, such as a birth or marriage certificate to be registered at a Brazilian registry office, the translation must be the Brazilian sworn translation (tradução juramentada), done by a sworn translator in Brazil. We provide that too.
Quebec City grew from the post Samuel de Champlain set up in 1608, and it is the only city in North America to have kept its ramparts, bastions and gates. The Historic District of Old Québec has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.
The Directeur de l’état civil, which keeps the Quebec register of births, marriages and deaths, has its mailing address in Quebec City, and since 1 June 2022 every act in the register is drawn up in French. A Quebec certificate going to Brazil or another country usually needs a translation.
We do not have an office in Quebec City, and you do not need to go anywhere: you upload your documents, see the price and the delivery date in the instant quote, and receive the certified translation by email as a PDF. Find out who signs the translation, see the other translation services in Canada and the prices on our pricing page.

Yes. We translate your documents into English with a certificate of accuracy and the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, the format Canada accepts for translations done outside the country. The deadline is the same as our certified translation in the United States.
For each document that is not in English or French, IRCC asks for the translation, an affidavit from the translator and a certified copy of the original. The affidavit is not needed when the translator is a member in good standing of a professional translation association, in Canada or abroad. IRCC does not approve or list translation companies.
Yes. The rule accepts a translator who is a member of a professional association in Canada or abroad, or a translation with the translator’s affidavit sworn before a notary public outside Canada. That is the Roxo format: the affidavit is sworn before a Florida notary public.
IRCC asks for an affidavit from the translator, sworn before someone authorized to take oaths; outside Canada, that is a notary public. Our translations for Canada include the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, at no extra cost.
