Translation services in Yellowknife for official use: we translate your documents into English or French, or into more than 30 other languages, with the translator’s affidavit sworn before a notary public, the format IRCC accepts for immigration and citizenship. Everything is done online, and the translation arrives by email.
Yellowknife is the capital of the Northwest Territories. When a document is not in English or French, these are the offices that most often ask for a translation:
For IRCC, a translation by a translator who is not certified in Canada is accepted when it comes with the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a notary public outside Canada, and a certified copy of the original. That is our IRCC translation.
The Northwest Territories ask for the translator’s own sworn word more than for a credential. The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) accepts documents translated into English or French with an affidavit from the person who did the translation, plus the original or a certified copy, which is the format we deliver. For a name change, a foreign document in another language must come with a translation and a statutory declaration signed by the translator. The marriage licence and driver’s licence pages do not mention translation.
Check with the office that will receive your document before you order. The territory has no translators’ association of its own, and Roxo is not a member of any Canadian association.
Yellowknife had 20,340 people in the 2021 census, about half of the territory, and 21% of its employed residents are immigrants. Across the Northwest Territories, 4,150 people, 10% of the population, were immigrants; Filipinos are the largest visible minority, most of them in Yellowknife, and Tagalog is the most common mother tongue after English and French. The census tables we checked do not count Brazilians or Spanish speakers separately.
For a Canadian document going to Brazil, such as a birth or marriage certificate to be registered at a Brazilian registry office, the translation must be the Brazilian sworn translation (tradução juramentada), done by a sworn translator in Brazil. We provide that too.
The Northwest Territories have 11 official languages: nine Indigenous languages, including Tłı̨chǫ, Inuktitut and nēhiyawēwin (Cree), plus English and French. Yellowknife is one of the communities with significant demand for services in French.
Yellowknife takes its name from the Yellowknives Dene, named for the copper-bladed knives they carried. It was named capital of the Northwest Territories in 1967 and became a city in 1970.
We do not have an office in Yellowknife, and you do not need to go anywhere: you upload your documents, see the price and the delivery date in the instant quote, and receive the certified translation by email as a PDF. Yes. We translate your documents into English with a certificate of accuracy and the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, the format Canada accepts for translations done outside the country. The deadline is the same as our certified translation in the United States.
For each document that is not in English or French, IRCC asks for the translation, an affidavit from the translator and a certified copy of the original. The affidavit is not needed when the translator is a member in good standing of a professional translation association, in Canada or abroad. IRCC does not approve or list translation companies.
Yes. The rule accepts a translator who is a member of a professional association in Canada or abroad, or a translation with the translator’s affidavit sworn before a notary public outside Canada. That is the Roxo format: the affidavit is sworn before a Florida notary public.
IRCC asks for an affidavit from the translator, sworn before someone authorized to take oaths; outside Canada, that is a notary public. Our translations for Canada include the translator’s affidavit, sworn before a Florida notary public, at no extra cost.
